Salma Hayek was born September 2, 1966 in the oil boomtown of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. She is a Mexican actress, television director and film producer. Her father was a rich businessman and her mother was an opera singer. She is the first Mexican national to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress.
